Korean progressive groups are preparing a Privacy Defense Act this year.

Recently, privacy issues have become very popular in Korea. In March, Privacy Network launched. About 10 progressive groups, including Jinbonet, participated in this Network.
 

Recently, privacy issues have become very popular in Korea. In March, Privacy Network launched. About 10 progressive groups, including Jinbonet, participated in this Network. They have held several meetings to discuss the important privacy problems in Korea. The list of Privacy issues includes:

- The National ID Card
- Building a database and bank of genes by The Korean Police Bureau and Korean Prosecution
- Surveillance in the workplace using closed circuit TV (CCTV)
- The sale and abuse of private information by the government, ISPs, and corporations

Last May 24, a conference prepared by Citizen Action Network and Privacy Network was held. The top issues of the conference were the problems of Resident Registration Numbers for all Korean People and The sale and abuse of private information by the government, ISPs, and corporations.
