진보네트워크센터는 2006년 유엔 경제사회이사회 협의적 지위를 획득한 민간단체로서,
최근 한국의 인터넷 표현의 자유 침해 상황에 대하여 다음과 같은 내용의 서면진술서(written statement)를
유엔인권이사회와 표현의자유 특별보고관 앞으로
오늘 제출하였습니다.
진보네트워크센터는 이 서면진술서에서
방송통신심의위원회의 인터넷 행정심의 현황과 그로 인한 표현의 자유 침해,
인터넷 게시물에 대한 형사처벌과 임시조치,
그리고 인터넷 실명제와 사이버 모욕죄를 비롯한 인터넷 규제 입법 상황을 보고하였습니다.
더불어 한국의 인터넷 표현의 자유 침해상황에 대한 유엔의 관심을 촉구하는 한편
표현의 자유 특별보고관의 방한을 요청하였습니다.
The written statement updates the current conditions of internet censorship by the administrative body, the Korea Communications Standards Commission, and reports the legislations that violate the freedom of opinion and expression such as internet real name system and cyber insult law as well as criminal penalties and temporary blocking against online posts. Moreover, the Jinbonet urged the United Nations attention to the violation of freedom of opinion and expression in cyber space and asked for a visit of Special Rapporteur.
